Austin Amateur Radio Club

Amateur or “Ham” Radio has many facets. It’s actually 1000 hobbies in one! One can explore electronics, antenna design, software, digital communications, emergency preparedness, satellites, weather-spotting, competitive operating, world-wide “DX-ing”, or just use ham radio as a powerful communications tool.
Some “Hams” focus on just one or a few topics while others try to experience it all.

We provide communication support for fun events like walks & bike rides, practicing our unique communications skills for more serious events like the Big Bend Ultra Marathon or disasters like hurricanes.

Ham Radio is often the first form of communication that “comes up” when wide-spread disasters strike. Emergency Responding agencies depend on our communications network’s resilience when all else has failed.

We meet monthly(1st Tue 7PM) at the Arboretum Baby Acapulco 9505 Stonelake Blvd.
