9th Street Schoolhouse

At the 9th Street Schoolhouse, we strive to “close the loop,” learning about sustainability through examining what inputs we humans require and how we can lessen our impact on the earth. Every month we take time for a Sustainability Day to have a focus lesson and then spend time in our gardens. We enjoy connecting with nature and eating what we grow. We invite you to join the fun and make a fabric herb pouch stuffed with fresh herbs!

Thinkery

Join Makers from the Thinkery as we design, create, test, play and explore.

More specifics to come, but here’s some idea of what we’re planning:
– Possible Trebuchet Range with 1 or more trebuchets
– Parachute Design Challenge
– Little Learners area (hands on experiences for guests under 5)
– Demos/Presentations in our booth space periodically (possible topics include kitchen chemistry, sound science, cow eye dissection, etc.)

Let’s make cool necklaces and/or bag tags using discarded Formica laminate swatches. Paint your own design on a laminate swatch or collage it with magazine cut-outs. Tie a piece of twine to the final Formica project and you have a new upcyled necklace or bag tag!

Erth Austin is redefining vertical gardening for hydroponics systems. By growing vertically, we can make indoor and outdoor gardening more productive for Austinites interested in growing their own vegetables in a small spaces. These systems increase efficiency and make sustainable urban farming a reality by maximizing available growing space and minimizing maintenance.
