Chap Research

ARbattles is augmented reality tank game that combines robotics, electronics and computer vision. It is controlled via a python script consisting of two modules, one for the game itself (shooting bullets, score and projecting the whole game onto the whiteboard through pygame) and one for tracking where the robots are with a camera (computer vision).

Daniel G. Benes Science Shows

“Daniel G. Benes is a teacher & instructor savant. He has spent a lifetime learning some pretty awesome things about the world around him and it’s not fair to keep that knowledge to himself. Daniel’s demonstrations of working antique science and technology, cutting-edge chemistry, physics, and high-voltage electricity, and much more, have been seen by thousands of students from around the world at various schools, youth centers, STEM & STEAM academies, museums, large festivals, and on radio and television! His hair-raising demonstrations, antiques, and unbridled on-stage energy ties the old to the new in a way that makes you think, why hasn’t someone done this before?

From primitive Bushcraft survival skills to ultra-modern tech, Daniel G. Benes Science Shows has something exciting to teach just about anyone willing to learn! Daniel has been called a modern Thomas Edison so many times, he finally became one! And that’s something that only science can explain. Come meet Daniel and visit his exhibit. We promise you’ll leave with a smile, and a little smarter.

Austin Area Rocketry Group

AARG is all about having fun and learning with rockets. We launch everything from small model rockets with youth groups to very large high power rockets with serious adult hobbyists. We invite you to join us at our next launch, whether you have a rocket to fly or just want to see some high-power flights. Designing, building, and flying rockets is always more fun when you have friends joining you.

Thinkery

Thinkery is Austin’s home for “why” and “how.” A place where science and families play side by side. Where people connect with ideas by doing, making and experiencing. It’s a foundry for a new generation of innovators and creative problem solvers. And it’s a heck of a good time.

This year at Maker Faire we will be showcasing projects from Space 8, Thinkery’s own Maker Lab for kids 8+. Projects can include items made by students from Thinkery’s afterschool program Spark Club, as well as collaborative tinkering projects made by Lead Educators, like our Bike Lathe and Littlebits Candle Lathe.
