Our Workshop schedule for Austin Mini Maker Faire 2014 is now up! All workshops are free with admission unless otherwise noted. You may sign up to participate in advance, though some seats will be saved to be given away on a first come, first served basis at the start of each class.

Craft your own hoop with various tubings and colorful tape supplied by Miss Laura – founder of HoopCircle – an Austin company that teaches and promotes “Hooping!”

Something From Nothing: Fruit Scrap Vinegar Fermentation with Kate Payne of Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking

Learn how to utilize fruit scraps–peels, cores, leftover mash–to ferment distinctive, flavored live-cultured vinegars. Learn methods and tricks for making strawberry, apple, blueberry, peach, and many other types of vinegars. Participants will gain an understanding of the two stages of fermenting vinegars, health benefits of incorporating raw, live vinegars and how to craft small-scale batches at home. Kate will also discuss how to use these homemade vinegars in creative ways.
